Amy Sorel - Soul Calibur 3 (colour edit)

Worn at: Armageddon 2006.

Awards: None.

I am intensely proud ofthis costume. Things just seemed to go right the whole way along - I branched out, and extended myself, and oooh - it just all went so well! I was gutted when she didn't even get a mention at judging - but ah well. That was partially my fault for not showing her off to the judges. Stupid migraine.

Starting with the sleeves - easy shit. I didn't have any trouble with them - they're lined with burgundy satin and have three different kinds of lace on them - the black at the cuffs was an afterthought and I think it works really well. The brocade we found for this was on sale insanely cheaply - BUT THEY RAN OUT! Luckily nobody noticed that the brocade is different for half the dress panels and under the skirt. XD!

Skirts were also really simple - a double-layered flouncy skirt with an elastic waist. No problem. The coat/dress/corset was another matter entirely though - I used a panelled dress pattern and extended and broadened the bottom so it fell properly. I boned the seams from upper edge to waist, and cut out and edged it with the same burgundy satin as everywhere else. The front gap has about thirty metal eyes for the ribbon to lace through, ALL hand sewn. I made this damn thing a bit small though - girl gets some massive cleavage happening. My bad...buckles at front were a simple addition and it closes with a zip at the side seam. Bow at the back is just a long strip of matching satin.

The bloomers (which are very visible in the game, though sadly not in these photos) are black satin, edged first with black lace, then white eyelet lace with burgundy ribbon threaded through and tied in a bow - which just would NOT stay tied!

Choker and garters were fun little accessories (though the ribbon on the garter drove me mad - kept slipping, as you can see in the pics), and the white motifs were taken from my magic box of tricks that I collect at garage sales. Shoes were purple when we bought them, were painted white and embellished. All skull decorations were hand-sculpted by me, painted with silver enamel and superglued into place.

On a side note - Nik's hair was also bleached and dyed by me. I love doing people's hair, it's my inner stylist coming out methinks...but I taught myself how to do foils, and I think the colour actually looks really good with this costume. Yay? Nay?

Photos by my mother, Jimi, and me - in no order at all.

AND - new photos taken by me in my living room. Makeshift studio? Oh, yeah. I also shot a few on my trusty SLR - no WAY am I scanning those in. And she forgot some of her stuff - garters, stockings and her shoe broke. Ah well.
