I love Alichino so much...the artwork is so beautiful. Pix saw this picture at my place and fell in love with it...but yeah, I used satin. Don't ever use satin. Seriously.
For the dress, I just altered the sleeves on a plain dress pattern and added more fabric to the skirt. The skirt is a full circle and the petticoat underneath is the same pattern as the skirt, with a gathered strip along the hem. (which I don't like...I should have done a flounce rather than gathering it.)
The frill on the glove is an elasticised bracelet worn over elbow-length gloves...for simplicity's sake.
The collar is the neck and shoulder pattern of a chinese-style shirt with the diamond panels added in. Originally there wasn't one on the back, but after I figured out that the collar didn't come down low enough to hide the back neckline of the dress...I had to improvise.
Pix decided against a wig because it was out of her budget, so we curled her hair and left it blonde. The rose was bought and we used bobby pins to fasten it into her hair with the rest of the piece.
I had intended to do the brooch things hanging down from the headpiece, but I ran out of time...and the same applied for the shoes. Pix has a perfect pair of little slipper type shoes that we were going to cover with scrap fabric, but shyeah...no time left.
