^_^ I love Kaori Yuki's artwork, and this is one of my favourite short stories. I really like this uniform...why doesn't mine look like that!? *grumbles* stupid school...
rargh. This was one rushed costume...the shoes and socks didn't present much of a problem, and the tie I stole from my dad (^_^;;) but the skirt drove me insane. I had to wait two weeks for spotlight to order in the pattern, and I only had 10 days to make the skirt, and I couldn't find the right plaid so I bought plain fabric and painted it...O_O advice to all who will attempt this: BE CAREFUL if you water down the paint - it bleeds quite a lot. With pleats SOME of this can be hidden, but not all of it...>< Another dilemma I faced with the skirt was the sizing. Comparing my measurements to the guides on the pattern, it told me to make a size 14..so I did. And I can afford to gain exactly 5 inches around my waist in an effort to make it stay UP. Tja...
The jumper was another issue. I was running severely low on funds at this stage, and it wasn't nice trying to grab one on my budget...my Nan ended up going op-shopping for me and bringing one down for me when she came to stay. The bloody thing was a size 18 or something, so I had to take it in 4 inches on each side before I could tolerate the thing. And it's STILL really sloppy! *sigh* Oh well, it looks pretty good. And I finally taught myself how to do V necks properly, lol.
The shirt had to wait til everything else was taken care of so I didn't go and overspend on the fabric for it. argh. At least I didn't need a wig too...>< I hate straightening my hair! The stupid straightening cream didn't work, and it just made my hair go all greasy and it knotted like a bitch too.
